The Gig Harbor Peninsula Historical Society & Museum has more than 8,000 photographs, slides, and negatives in its photograph collection. Copies of the images are located in 18 binders -- categorized by subject matter, including Harbor Views, Boat Building, Sports, Businesses, Boats-Fishing, Boats-Steam and Ferries, Schools, Residences, Portraits, Churches, Community Events, Rural Scenes, Streets and Buildings, and Bridges-Docks-Roads. The society is currently digitizing all of the images in the collection. In the new Harbor History Museum, visitors will be able to easily view images, search the collection, print low resolution copies, and order prints at a computer kiosk located in the museum store. Most of these images are available for purchase, ranging in size from 5" x 7" to mural size.
